NEW DELHI: Militant outfits have warned the passengers of the bus to PoK against making the journey. Home ministry sources say that the list has been leaked by the Pakistani side.
"It was a classified document, prepared in English. But the one which has been provided to the militants is in Urdu,"said a top ministry official. Stating that"a renewed security plan is being chalked out to ensure complete safety for the passengers,"the official said under"no circumstances will the government stall the bus."He added:"We are trying to get a similar assurance from the Pakistani government."
Armed with the list of 40 passengers, the militant organisations called for a general strike on April 7 when the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service is slated to be flagged off by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
They warned that those who board the bus would be branded as "traitors".
They also termed the bus service a"deadly weapon that India wants to use against the jehadi (militants) forces"in the state. They also slammed the Musharraf government of"constantly working against Islamist forces in Pakistan at the behest of its masters", in an apparent reference to the US.
They also criticised the stand of the moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq as being"pro-India and totally against the freedom movement." They, however, lauded the efforts of Syed Ali Shah Geelani and his group, saying their stand was based on"realism and farsightedness".
